Episode 322: iTunes Top 20

Episode 322: iTunes Top 20
Pat, Kyle and Murray check out what the kids are listening to by jumping head first into the Top 20 Songs on iTunes.
From September 14, 2017

With your hosts:

Pat Francis

Murray Valeriano

Liner Notes

  • Murray has his son in the studio today. They are keeping him busy with the movie Kung Fu Panda and some noise cancelling headphones.
  • Pat starts the show with an apology to Michael Mariano, a Patreon subscriber. He was the first to submit picks for last weeks episode The Perfect Album Side. Pat told him his picks would be played and then just missed him. Michael's pick was side 2 of Aerosmith's Toys in the Attic.
  • Murray hates Aerosmith but thinks that the songs picked actually rocked.
  • Kyle shows everyone his engagement ring.
  • Today's topic is the top 20 songs on iTunes as of August 26th, in the evening, when Pat purchased and downloaded them. Pat did not listen to the songs so everyone has honest reactions. No one is even sure they have heard any of these songs.
  • The title of the song by Logic, 800-273-8255 is the National Suicide Prevention Hotline number.
  • Pat and Murray didn't mind the Kain Brown song. While it would be categorized as Country they don't think modern Country sounds Country at all. Kyle didn't think it was that bad.
  • Cardie B was another story though. Pat checked out on the first note and cut it off when the N-bomb hit. He immediately deleted it from his iTunes.
  • Kyle thinks all the new music sounds the same. He thinks that he could probably get away with playing the same time over and over on this episode because no one would notice.
  • Pat put on his "Old Fogy" hat and question if any of this music has staying power.
  • Sorry Not Sorry (by Demi Lovato) has 5 song writers and Pat isn't sure why. He plays a couple of songs from Hardline. The first had 7 writers and the second had 5. He can't imagine why any of those songs couldn't be written by one or two people.
  • While playing Look What You Made Me Do, Pat started singing I'm Too Sexy and said he thought like they were using the bass line in part of Taylor's the song. After comparing, it certainly sounds like it.
  • Bose is sponsoring the podcast (for 24 episodes). New cans for everyone in the studio. They are now all using the QuietComfort 35 headphones. Bose - Get Closer.
  • Kyle is building the new website and it is almost ready by the time of the record. It may be up by the time the episode drops

Joe here: The new website is up and looks great! It can be found at .
